Challenge

onsemi wished to sell its operational 150mm manufacturing facility based in Oudenaarde, Belgium while preserving the employment of its entire Belgian workforce.

Solution

Positioning the fab for long-term success and further innovation, ATREG was able to bring Belgian buyer and photonics company BelGaN Group BV to the table. Thanks to the European Union’s available IPCEI program to fund the development of new technologies, this innovative buyer will prolong the fab’s life.

Business Result

• The Oudenaarde site will continue the production of CMOS and BCD products for the automotive industry with its fully integrated line of 150mm front-end tools, 70% of which are convertible to 200mm.
• Long-term GaN technologies will be introduced which will prolong the life of the fab.
• All jobs at the Oudenaarde site were preserved.
