ATREG President & CEO Stephen Rothrock

Stephen Rothrock

Stephen founded ATREG in 2000 in response to the global semiconductor industry’s need for strategic advisory services related to the monetization and disposition of complex and formerly illiquid assets. After initially focusing on buying and selling empty cleanroom facilities, the company’s transaction platform quickly expanded globally to include the transfer of business units and the sale of operational front-end as well as assembly and test (A&T) silicon wafer manufacturing fabs, intellectual property (IP), long-term supply agreements, and complete semiconductor manufacturing tool lines. ATREG’s objective is to master variability in response to volatile market conditions, advise clients to their best strategic outcomes, and provide exemplary service in complex and difficult assignments. Over the past three years, ATREG has added new advisory services to its core business of fab sale transactions in the realms of manufacturing strategy, IP licensing, bankruptcy liquidations, valuations, and the establishment of joint-venture manufacturing partnerships.

Since ATREG’s inception, Stephen has led projects for Atmel, Freescale, Fujitsu, IBM, Infineon, Matsushita (Panasonic), Maxim, Micron, NXP, Qimonda, Renesas, Sony, and Texas Instruments in the USA, Europe, and Asia. In 2012-2013, he spent 18 months in Japan to set up ATREG’s Tokyo office and oversee the firm’s Asian operations. Prior to founding ATREG, Stephen established Colliers International’s Global Corporate Services initiative and headed the company’s U.S. division based in Seattle, Wash. Before that, he worked as Director for Savills International commercial real estate brokerage in London, UK, also serving on the UK-listed property company’s international board. He also spent four years near Paris, France working for an international NGO.

Stephen holds an MA degree in Political Theology from the University of Hull, UK and a BA degree in Business Commerce from the University of Washington in Seattle, USA.
